Artist info: OASIS
OASIS
Oasis has been on the music industry circuit since their birth as a band in 1991. Starting as an English rock band out of Manchester England during this time period, Liam Gallagher on vocals, Paul Arthurs on Guitar, Paul McGuigan on bass, and Tony McCarroll on drums started the ball rolling on a music legacy that continues to affect fans of all ages and countries for years after their first concert as a band. The group soon added Liam's older brother Noel Gallagher to help develop the sound and feel that is Oasis today.
With a history marked in sibling rivalry, overactive party lifestyle, and changes in members it is truly remarkable that Oasis has been able to overcome and be one of the fastest selling rock bands in UK music history. They have sold more than fifty million records and have won multiple awards including fifteen NME awards, nine Q awards, and five Brit awards. They have also had more than eight chart topping singles that have topped both the charts of the UK as well as the United States.
Oasis has gone through a series of hills and valley in way of their popularity through more than five labels and the loss of five of its members over the years. The current band lineup includes Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock who many will remember from his days touring with Robbie Williams.
Oasis continues to summon such similar sounds for influence as the Who, the Beatles, Sex Pistols, as well as the Rolling Stones. All of which you can hear parts of through their music and albums over the years. Additionally, many bands also have claimed to take influence from Oasis including The Killers and Arctic Monkeys, as well as a host of tribute bands that have popped up over the years.
Oasis still continues to produce hits and recently has signed again with BMG to release an additional three albums with the first hitting the market in October 2008. With this new deal Oasis is sure to be a legend for years to come.

STOP THE CLOCKS
Noel Gallagher has always been eager to talk about his obsession with The Beatles. In some Oasis songs, he used somewhat obscure references to Beatles songs, in interviews he discussed his admiration for John Lennon, and in live shows he included Beatles songs. With Oasis - Stop the Clocks double-album compilation, Gallagher even used Peter Blake, the artist responsible for the cover of the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper," to design the cover. Moreover, the ideas behind many of the choices regarding Oasis - Stop the Clocks were inspired by the famous Beatles double-album compilation, known as The Red and Blue Albums. The songs Gallagher chose to include in the compilation come mostly from the first two Oasis albums and from the B-sides that accompanied singles released from these albums. Gallagher did include songs from later albums, but he insisted on artistic continuation, meaning many of the band's more popular songs were not included. The album did very well in England, going Platinum four times, as well as receiving critical acclaim for Gallagher's refusal to put out simply a Singles or Best Selling compilation.
